Erasmus+ Staff Week: Dynamic Research Management in the European Context (DIRECT)
The “DynamIc Research Management in the European ContexT (DIRECT)” Erasmus Staff Week, organized by the University of Cologne, took place in Cologne, Germany, on September 18-22, 2023, with the participation of 22 research managers from various universities across Europe.
İstanbul University's International Projects Office (IPO) staff member, Şaban Çaytaş, attended this event and presented a poster on the support processes for research projects at our university.
The focus of the DIRECT Erasmus+ Staff Week was to examine the structures of research support offices.
The main objective of the DIRECT Erasmus Staff Week was to enable research managers who provide support in the technical stages of research projects supported by the European Union to compare good examples and practices, thus discovering recommendations to improve their institutional structures. Many innovative topics related to research management were addressed both in presentations and in roundtable discussions. Presentations were held on topics such as international and EU funds, technology transfer and entrepreneurship, institutional support mechanisms for open science, and equal opportunities. The research managers participating in the event also shared the activities of their institutions in these areas. Additionally, several roundtable discussions were organized focusing on the development of the research management profession and ways to enhance institutions' capacity to support researchers.
